Over the years, India has become a critical market for both big and small brands. There is a clear trend on brands spending heavily across the mediums (both ATL and BTL) throughout the year to ensure that they remain in touch with the consumers. Also, in last few years, marketing has gone beyond the traditional mediums and digital and mobile have emerged as clear winners. As a testimony to the stated fact, the digital adex is expected to grow by 47% in this year and be at around 12.7% of the total Adex. The digital spend in 2016 is expected to grow to Rs 7,300 crore from Rs 4,900 crore in 2015. Some of the digital platforms that benefit from the growing digital spends include Facebook, Twitter, Google and several others. Recently, Umang Bedi, the newly appointed Managing Director of Facebook India clearly stated that India is the second most critical market for the social media platform in its universe. “India is one of the fastest growing markets in APAC, and Facebook is very serious about growth here,” adds Bedi.
