Digital marketing has really come a long way in the last decade. Once, it was merely banner advertising and social media, digital marketing is now an integrated set of tactics requiring a diverse skill set, making it distinctly different from marketing that came before it. Digital marketing has really come a long way in the last decade. Once, it was merely banner advertising and social media, digital marketing is now an integrated set of tactics requiring a diverse skill set, making it distinctly different from marketing that came before it. of the internet, marketing was primarily divided into 3 tasks: strategic marketing (ie. new product development, brand management), advertising, and sales. Concentrated primarily on TV advertising, costs were enormous (over 5 million dollars for a single Super Bowl ad) while the performance was mostly guesswork and many questioned the ROI of TV advertising. Often, the three tasks involved in traditional advertising were pretty uncoordinated and often done by different groups within the company or outside vendors, with a low integration of efforts. For example, a brand manager would manage the day-to-day operations related to the brand, a sales manager would harness the power of salespeople to sell the brand, and an outside agency would produce various types of advertising.

Why Netflix Needs To Brand Its Netflix Originals Differently

Article | March 8, 2020

As the Netflix Original library becomes an increasingly big part of the Netflix overall lineup, we believe that it’s time Netflix started branding its Netflix Originals. Below, we’ll hopefully make the case as to why it should happen and possibly how to do it. We’re writing this in the wake of a huge influx of new streaming services that are operated by big corporations that have multiple labels. We’re also doing it a week after FX on Hulu launches. The issue with this is probably an issue you’ve seen online. “All Netflix Originals are crap” or “all Netflix originals are foreign”. When you think of HBO (one of Warner Medias brands) you know roughly what you’re in for. Top budget series with quality. If you think of Cartoon Network, you know what you’re in for. Likewise, if you mention The CW, you know it’s going to be a lower budget than Warner’s HBO output.

On the mobile app front, we’re seeing a major uptick in time spent across categories such as gaming, mental/physical health, and fintech/news. Bespoke brands are rushing to build and promote virtual fitting tools

Article | March 8, 2020

With the vast majority of Americans quarantined and events canceled, it would seem a fashion category that would be hit hard is bespoke suits. But according to several founders, suit fittings are still happening, they’ve just moved online. Colin Hunter, co-founder of bespoke suit brand Alton Lane, said his team has spent the past 10 days rapidly building and perfecting the infrastructure needed to get virtual fittings off the ground, to replace in-person fittings. The process has been informal and fast-moving, and fittings are now being conducted with customers over FaceTime, Google Hangouts and text. It’s Hunter hope that the virtual fittings, which kicked off last week, will be enough to see the brand through this rough period.
