ON Advertising acquires Evans Communications

ON Advertising, a prominent Phoenix-based full-service advertising firm, has acquired Evans Communications, a leading Valley public relations, marketing and event planning firm. Evans Communications will be merged into the ON Advertising structure, and its principal Tom Evans will join the ON Advertising team as Partner-Public Relations and Event Strategies. Evans’ three other employees will join the ON Advertising team as well. The dollar value of the transaction is to be determined based upon revenues over the next few years. The move significantly expands ON’s public relations and event planning capabilities while providing Evans Communications’ clients with ON’s full spectrum of advertising, creative, digital, social media and marketing services. Evans Communications’ clients include some of the Valley’s most prominent organizations, including Plaza Companies, Valley of the Sun United Way, SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, The Phoenix Symphony and many more.

Channel 4 slashes content budget owing to advertisement revenue drop

Channel 4 is expected to cut its programming budget by nearly £150 million while furloughing about 100 staff to fight and survive any financial woes brought by the coronavirus crisis. The broadcaster, that is mostly funded by TV advertising, as well as being publicly owned expects to face a slump in the advertising revenue by 50% in the coming two months. It was estimated that Channel 4 was left with finances for six months only without having to make any cuts. The management of the broadcaster that includes Ian Katz, the director of programs as well as Alex Mahon, the chief executive will be taking a pay cut of 20% and will also not be receiving any bonus. Channel 4 also made an announcement that about 10% out of over 900 staff are expected to be furloughed.

The revelation that, by the age of seven, 53% of British kids will own a mobile phone, will come as good news to one group in particular: advertisers. By the time U.K. youngsters are 11, the ownership ratio reaches a whopping 90%, according to a report published last week by the research consultancy Childwise. And as the penetration of smartphone usage rises, it creates more opportunity for advertisers to get in front of young eyeballs. Parents need to get clued up if they want to stop that from happening. For now, advertising targeted at children has been slower to migrate online than in the broader industry. Whereas more than half of the world's $614 billion of ad spending is now online, less than a third of the outlay for ads targeting children is digital, according to a 2019 study by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
