As highlighted in our Q4 2016 Global Facebook Advertising Benchmark Report, direct response marketers using Nanigans software to advertise on Facebook had a banner quarter through the competitive holiday advertising season.Return on ad spend (ROAS) among ecommerce advertisers increased an average of 33% year-over-year, on a same-advertiser basis. Google wants to substantially limit the information a key auditor of YouTube can share about the risks of advertising on the video service, according to people familiar with the situation, highlighting tensions between the tech giant and Madison Avenue. DTC brands are tightening up how much they spend on digital advertising

For the past couple of years, investors have been urging direct-to-consumer brands to rely less on digital advertising to acquire new customers. Now, it’s become even more important for them to be more efficient with their advertising spend with the coronavirus pandemic. some cuts. Many direct-to-consumer advertising brands are pulling back on their advertising spend on Facebook and Google as they anticipate shoppers will tighten their wallets in the coming months. Joe Yakuel, founder and CEO of performance marketing agency Within, which has worked with Nike and Spanx among other brands, estimated that among his clients overall, their ad spend was down a little more than a third at the beginning of last week, compared to two weeks ago. Within also launched a COVID-19 ad spend tracker, which shows that among a sampling of the agency’s fashion and luxury clients, Facebook ad spend was down roughly 27% and 36% month-over-month respectively.

Microsoft Advertising expands UI redesign to more pages

Microsoft Advertising unveiled the new look for its web interface in October. A select number of advertisers have had access to the new look for the past few months. Now those users will see the new look on more pages, including Manager accounts. The redesign preview now includes search terms, change history, reports, dimensions and more, the company announced Monday. The new UI, like the Google Ads redesign a couple of years ago, is aimed at helping advertisers access and act on information faster. For agencies and brands managing multiple accounts using a Manager account, the Manager Account Overview page will be the new default landing page in the new look.To start, it features four “insights tiles,” as shown in the screenshot above: Performance, Top changes: Accounts, Accounts and Devices.

Advertising industry leads on work from home push

Adland is leading the charge in directing employees to work from home, according to anonymous community platform Fishbowl. The company ran a survey asking one simple question: "Has your workplace restricted travel or encouraged you to work remotely due to coronavirus?" More than 10,000 verified users responded either yes or no. The survey, which ran from March 11 to March 12, found that when separating by industry, advertising had the highest ratio of employees responding that their workplace is restricting travel or encouraging remote work, with 63.15 percent. Overall, 52.21 percent of respondents nationwide, said that their workplace has restricted travel or encouraged them to work remotely.
