The Best Social Media Management Tools for Every Business

Gone are the days when social media marketers all used the same handful of tools to do their jobs effectively. Marketers Need to Invest in Detailed Geo Targeting Now

Article | April 5, 2024

Geo targeting is the most under-utilised targeting element available to marketers today, giving a huge opportunity to brands that invest time and money in smarter geo targeting. Most advertising platforms now allow for detailed geo targeting – often down to a zip code/postcode or even to GPS coordinates. Yet it is amazing how few advertisers are consciously investing effort in this area. Audience targeting/ retargeting (via cookies) has dominated online display advertising and is now under threat from legislation and the end of third party cookies. Targeting in search and demographic targeting in logged in social networks attract huge spends. With the end of cookies it has been contextual targeting getting the most attention. This has relegated geo targeting down the list in terms of investment and understanding. This is a mistake as in fact it has many benefits, and to succeed advertisers need to understand how it impacts their business.

OOH Vs. Digital Advertising: A Quick Comparison

Article | March 20, 2024

Effective marketing is the lifeblood of every company. From the 1800s, when billboards influenced audiences to buy a certain soda, to today when an ad on social media can make people spend thousands of dollars, marketing has come a long way. The success of the internet has opened new doors for advertisers and marketers. Companies cannot afford to ignore the lucrative online audience that is always available. Despite this digital advertising boom, out-of-home advertising (OOH) remains a popular and effective medium to influence customers. Figuratively, OOH and digital advertising are at war to claim supremacy. B2B marketers need to determine which is the better choice for their businesses. Let us look at what OOH and digital advertising entail. Out of Home Advertising: Promising Impact Any advertising material promoting a business and displayed outdoors counts as OOH advertising. Billboards, vehicles, walls and benches are the common tools that advertisers use to promote products and services across cities. More recently, tactics like flash mobs and digital dashboards have added frillsto OOH advertising. Companies are swiftly transitioning from traditional advertising to digital advertising. However, OOH advertising brings in a huge audience. For example, if you book a bus bench in Los Angeles to advertise your product, over 35000-50000 people might look at your ad. Netflix ran an interesting OOH campaign in France. It placed a digital screen on the outdoor boards that displayed GIFs of their original shows. These GIFs were reactions to events happening in France. When France was kicked out of the World Cup, the GIFs garnered attention and helped viewers remember Netflix. Digital Advertising: Broader Demographic Digital advertising is the way of the future. While it does not eliminate the power of OOH advertising, it does bring in a broad demographic online for most of the day. In addition, digital advertising is efficient when it comes to driving sales and revenue because digital ads go beyond advertising through personal engagement. According to Upward Labs, a highly recommended share can increase a product's value by an average of 8.8%. Internet tools and social sharing get the audience involved in conversations and influence their buying decisions. As a result, it is easier to target the right audience when running a digital ad campaign. According to a study by Marketing Land, digital advertising is five times more effective than direct mail in terms of cost-per-conversion. Digital advertising hits a few snags, like ad clutter, ad fraud, ad blockers, and bot farms, but advertisers cannot deny how broad a demographic it reaches. Moreover, its influence is easy to track. Parting Words Though your digital ads may reach a broader demographic, they may lose impact over time. OOH advertising may be a more natural course to take. However, the demand for “360” marketers is taking the market by storm, so striking a balance between your digital and OOH ad campaigns and, at times, fusing the two can be the right way to go to.

How Campaign Health Metrics Can Help You Streamline Ad Campaigns

Article | August 12, 2022

Advertising metrics provide clear information on the success and failures of an ad campaign. They are a practical tool to track all aspects of your marketing activities as well as how your campaign compares to designated metrics. Take a look at your campaign health metrics to understand your campaign’s performance. These metrics aren’t exactly KPIs (key performance indicators) because they are not tightly connected to your marketing goals. However, they do support the important ad metrics. They can give you insights into how to improve an ad campaign on your level. Check out this list of valuable metrics to add to your armory if you really want to find the value of your content, the value of your audience, and the success of the advertising you're hosting. Cost Efficiency Metrics (CPCs, CPMs, CPVs) Understand what your initial interaction with your audience is costing you. Metrics like cost per click, cost per mille and cost per view are foundational to determining where you need to focus to optimize your campaign while ensuring you have an eye on the changing trends. Click-Through Rate To understand how relevant your ads are to your audience, you need to look at your click-through rate. A low click-through rate means your ads have a huge scope of improvement and that you might not be targeting the right audience to meet your marketing goals. To avoid losing your ad spend, quickly identify drops in performance and alter your ads to make them relevant to your target audience. Conversion Rate The conversion rate of your ad indicates the relevance of your landing pages and how well they are optimized for conversion. If the conversion rate is low, it means that your site’s content is not resonating with your audience or that the audience you are targeting isn’t right for your product or service. It could also mean that your audience isn’t at the right stage of the funnel to take an action. You can make changes based on how this metric looks. Impression Share This metric helps you understand how much you can scale your campaign through aggressive bidding. It can also highlight underperforming keywords and how you can enhance your campaign by adjusting the budget. Adjusting geo-targeting settings and improving ad quality are some of the ways to increase the impression share. On-Site Engagement To gauge the interest of the audience in your ad campaign, keep an eye on on-site engagement metrics like bounce rate, average number of pages visited, and average session duration. These are the real measures of the interest your prospects show in your ads. Quality Score A quality score helps you identify ways to improve your campaign. This score gives you a comprehensive look at all the individual scores that affect your campaign. The historical data that evaluates the changes in your campaign over time is visible here. You can pinpoint which changes led to a positive impact and which didn’t. Bottomline Campaign health metrics are your answer to improving your ad campaigns. Taking note of what is working and what isn’t is the right way to constantly enhance the performanc

Business Wire | July 17, 2023

Emburse, the global leader in spend optimization, released new information today about corporate online advertising spend in May 2023. The data reveals that despite macroeconomic concerns, companies are on track to spend more on search and social advertising in 2023 than in 2022. As companies seek ways to be more efficient with their budgets, they are shifting which platforms they prioritize with their ad dollars, but have not slowed ad spending overall. According to the data released in an infographic today, the top three vendors by share of advertising spend, in order, are Google, Meta, and LinkedIn. Spending on Twitter declined 54% from May 2022 to May 2023, while companies are putting more money toward Gen Z-oriented social media platforms. ByteDance, which owns Tiktok, saw a 55% increase, and Snap, which owns Snapchat, a 41% increase from May 2022 to May 2023. Companies invested 6% more in digital advertising in the first five months of 2023 than in the same period in 2022. Emburse also reported increased investment in newer business applications like chat-based AI tools. For example, the amount spent on OpenAI increased 3,266% from May 2022 to May 2023. Although many people expected companies to reduce spend overall this year, instead the company has seen an effort to better align business values with their budgets. “Online advertising is an essential business function, even as companies look to establish lasting efficiency with their budgets and better manage spending practices,” said Emburse’s Chief Experience Officer Johann Wrede. “Many of our customers entered 2023 ready to make changes with a shifting economy, and found that concentrating their ad dollars on platforms that are giving them high value with little tumult is the way to make a longer-term impact on their bottom line.” More than 18,000 companies trust Emburse for its corporate card and spend management solution, Emburse Spend, representing over $80 billion in spending transactions a year.
